The Rev. Dr. Shoushan M. Salibian
The Rev Dr. Shoushan M. Salibian is the first woman in her native country of Lebanon to become an ordained minister conquering cultural and ethnic barriers both in her native and adoptive countries.
Dr. Salibian holds a B.A. in English Literature, a Masters in Divinity and a Doctorate in Clinical Studies and Psychology. She is a Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and has been practicing Counseling since 1979. Dr. Salibian has extensive training in Analytical Psychology in the United States and Zurich.
Dr. Salibian's background as a minister's daughter coupled with her professional background as a minister provides a special sensitivity to the struggles of clergy and related family issues.
Dr. Salibian has extensive experience lecturing, preaching, speaking. and training at workshops and conferences throughout the United States, Canada as well as teaching Pastoral Care and Counseling in Armenia {94,96,00,0l,02} and in Prague {1998/1999} as part of the Seminars Faculty. Dr. Salibian's holistic approach to healing and her success in integrating the psychological, spiritual and physical dimensions are reflected in her approach to counseling.
Her passions in working with clients in therapy are:
- Empowerment of Women
- Being a pioneer leading group therapy integrating Mind/Body/Spirit in Psycho-dynamic work.
- Assisting the elderly in coping with geriatric related issues.
- To help client's reclaim their inner resources to heal in mind, body, and spirit.
- Cultural Sensitivity to individuals and couples in the counseling setting.
- Dream analysis.
- Working with individuals who are in transition and who have experienced the loss and death of a loved one.
In 1994 Dr. Salibian was the recipient of the Ella Wheeler Award at the YWCA's Distinguished Women's Leaders Dinner in Nashua, NH and in 1997 she received the American Baptist Outstanding Pastoral Counselor Merit Award in the country.
Dr. Salibian is currently the Director of Pastoral Care at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH. Prior to her full time position at the Medical Center she was the Director and Counselor at Nashua's Hunt Community Residence, a retirement community in Nashua. She is a pioneer in Holistic Pastoral Psychotherapy. As a Reiki Master and Therapeutic Touch practitioner, she has incorporated prayer, meditation, visualization and breathing techniques with patients experiencing severe pain. Her workshops and seminars are in high demand. Her future goal is to pursue building a walking Labyrinth in Nashua which is an ancient modality of healing.
Along with her many achievements and accomplishments Dr. Salibian recently adopted a beautiful infant daughter from Armenia.
Her Motto is "Make a Good Day". Dr. Salibian firmly believes that within each of us is the great potential to explore our inner resources to create positive and life giving moments every day of our life.
